This interview was conducted on 4 September 2019 by our account manager Manfred Ferstl with Gernot Hostnigg, owner of Augenblick-Optik in Graz.
Could you briefly describe your working relationship with Pomberger Goisern so far?
I’ve been an optician in Graz for 42 years, running my own business for 30 of those years now, and I’ve been working very successfully with the Pomberger [Goisern] company ever since.
It started with the “F3” frame in every colour, continued with the “Udo”, which is still around today, and goes right up to the current, very colourful, innovative and excellent [Johann von Goisern] frames, which are a pleasure to sell and sell well. Time and again, it also helps to make the point that it’s a sustainable product from Austria.
The field sales team – a long-standing acquaintance, consistently good, friendly and fun.
The service centre – always friendly and helpful. Problems get solved, following the motto: ‘There’s no such thing as can’t!’ That’s the kind of good old-fashioned, handshake-deal reliability that we’re actually missing more and more in Austria – but it’s still alive here.

What do you hope for from Pomberger Goisern in future?
That the quality stays the way it is, that Manfred and I retire at the same time, and that we can carry on offering such innovative, great products bearing the “Made in Austria” label.
